Apartment Owner's Notes and Description
Rome still hides numerous remnants of its medieval period. One of the most representative is in the courtyard entered by the arch at Via del Pellegrino n°18, just 1 m walk from Campo de’ Fiori and 3 m from Piazza Navona.
Once you have crossed the striking arch you will find yourself in a cobble stoned square surrounded by houses that give this closed courtyard the look of an image out of lost Rome.
Exclusive "Red House" is located in 16 century building with independent entrance.
The apartment is spread over three levels.  On the first floor the double bedroom with a wardrobe at guests' disposal, tv and bathroom with shower. Going up to the second level through an iron spiral staircase you will find a fully equipped kitchen, the living and work area as well as a beautiful balcony full of plants and flowers.
On the third level a mezzanine with a single bed. The apartment has air conditioning, heating, washer, dishwasher, hair dryer, oven, toaster, refrigerator and freezer, Italian coffee machine, Nespresso machine, kettle, iron and ironing board. You will have free wi-fi access, tv lcd, clean sheets, towels and kitchen tools.
To immerse yourself in the authentic and typical Roman atmosphere, simply stroll in Piazza Campo de 'Fiori, a lively and picturesque fruit and vegetable market in the morning, which then becomes a magical "living room" where you can meet for an aperitif or to savor the many Roman specialties in the numerous restaurants and trattorias in the area.

The apartment is perfect. The location is extremely appropriate. Close to everything. You can basically visit every major ancient place, museum, restaurant, street food location, or historic monument, by foot, thus saving in transportation massively. The apartment is set so you have EVERYTHING to spend a perfect time with just going for groceries. Extremely recommendable

Thanks for letting us stay in the apartment. It really made our experince perfect. Convenient location and facilities. We had everything to have a perfect time in Rome.

Fantastic. Completely enjoyable in almost every way, from interesting surroundings to feeling at home, this is an amazing place. I spent a week here and, if they'll have me, I'll definitely come back. I have to work hard - very hard - to find anything wrong with the apartment. The shower head can use a good soaking in CLR (calcium disolver). There was hot water and great pressure. Wifi was strong no matter where I was. When the window/doors were closed I heard only the smallest of noises from the courtyard. The kitchen is, by far, the best-stocked kitchen I've ever rented. Supplies left by prior guests, and provided by the hosts, were practical things we all use. Good (soft) TP, bars of soap and bottles of body wash. Pasta in the pantry, water and juice in the fridge, coffee and a moka pot, paper towels, kitchen towels, and even wash cloths in the bathroom! The walls are covered with interesting things, from myriad books to classical music CDs to interesting nick-nacks in seemingly every corner. Your clothes storage is a hanging closet and three old school lockers with glass shelves inside! Great creativity! I have only one pick and caution about the place that really only applies to a small group of people - most won't be bothered much. The entry steps are very steep and narrow. Not quite "ladder" steep but not far from that either. Going up with a suitcase is a challenge - coming down those steps is harrowing. I would not recommend this place for guests with mobility issues such as bad legs, hips, or joints. Also, very small children who want to hold a parent's hand on the stairs are going to be challenged as there's not room for two people (even 1 1/2) to be side-by-side on the steps. The circular stairs inside the apartment are very comfortable and easy to navigate. So long as guests are aware of the entry steps, the rest of the place makes up in spades for any discomfort. It is truly a little haven after a long day of touristing Rome. Highly recommended for its location, its interest, and its hosts the "Arco" is a fabulous place to stay in old Rome.

This is a great place in a great location.

We had a great time staying in the apartment in the Arco. We come to Rome once a year and hope we can stay there again. Ilaria was really helpful as well. Thanks for everything. Greg.

We had a fantastic time in this very beautiful apartment. The apartment is located in a  quiet but famous courtyard footsteps away from the Campo dei Fiori, with a bonus of a lovely and very affectionate ginger cat waiting to greet us every morning and evening.
The inside of the apartment is very stylish with an industrial feel while remaining  cosy with a huge amount of interesting books to look through (if you have time), the beds are comfortable, kitchen well stocked with all the plates, pots and pans etc you could possible need. A lovely small balcony.
The owner was very charming and a lovely unexpected bonus our towels were changed half way through our stay.
I would highly recommend this apartment if you are looking for somewhere very close to restaurants, bars and shops but enjoy a good nights sleep.

The apartment hosts met us at the apartment and were very helpful getting us familiar with the apartment and surrounding area of Rome (Campo dei Fiori). The apartment is in a private area and does have stairs up to the apartment and a circular staircase inside going from the first to third level. The first bedroom, toilet and shower is on the first level, the kitchen on the second level, the second bed is in the loft area on the third level. The apartment location is excellent steps from Campo Di Fiori plaza and many restaurants. All major sites in central Rome are within walking distance from the apartment. We took a taxi from the train station to the apartment 15€. I would definitely recommend the apartment for the location and friendly hosts.

Incredible.
The atmosphere of the apartment is wonderful. It's literally 20 steps from the Campo de Fiori, and we easily walked EVERYWHERE (15 min to the Vatican, 20 minutes to the Forum).
The cats in the courtyard are friendly, and if you befriend any of them (one inparticular, we did... the smaller of the two blacks), you'll have great company for your card games at the dining room table, which my friend and I made a nightly routine of.
The apartment was clean, well furnished, and the cleaning lady came a three times (I think) the week we were there, and took care of the sheets, the dishes, and fixing burned out light bulbs. Maria from Roman Reference was very helpful and kind. She met us there (we were 15 minutes late and she seemed not to mind), and she answered all of our questions and told us everything she thought we'd need to know about the apartment and the area.
The Campo has a bustling market every morning, and you can actually get coffee takeaway from Obika.
If you're wanting to stay in Rome, I wholeheartedly recommend this place. We're still dreaming about it...

Wonderful apartment in a great location.  It is maybe 50 meters from the Campo dei Fiori.  The architecture of the apartment is quirky and fun and our stay was very comfortable.  The piazza is quiet and private.

Make sure that you receive a key for the apartment and a key for the gate to the piazza when you check in.  They are separate and the gate is locked at night for security purposes because there are a number of bars in the area.  If you don't receive the gate key you can't get into the piazza after about 10 pm.

We enjoyed the apartment and would definitely stay there again.

Just to follow up, we had a great stay and enjoyed the apartment. Enso was great to us and it was a fantastic trip all around. Only confusion was that we were under the impression that the cleaner would come daily. She only stopped by once during our 6-day stay. Is that normal?

At any rate, thanks for all your help.

Fantastic location, and very comfortable.  Maria was helpful on our arrival.  We would stay here again in a heart beat!  However a couple of things for other guests that took us a bit by surprise: The stairs up to the apartment are clearly shown but not to be underestimated with suitcases.  Secondly, we had no internet connection for the duration of our stay and lastly the balconies can best be described as balconette.

This apartment in Arco degli Acetari was clearly the highlight of our trip to Rome.  I really like Rome, but the great mass of tourists can sometimes make you feel like such an outsider. That's what's so nice about Arco degli Acetari -- you really feel like you live in Roma, and get to shop and cook and do all those things a real Roman does. Its such a pleasure to return there after sightseeing, rather than to a heartless hotel.

The kitchen is fantastic -- we shopped cooked quite a bit.  Beds are comfy, the place is big.  You feel like you have an entire house, with your own entrance, in a truly special little place, rather than some small apartment.  My only one caveat is that the popular location has one drawback.  One Saturday night many of the partying Romans, from the nearby bars, decided to use the private Arco area for some private partying and other noisy and disagreeable activities.  This kept us up late and was pretty unpleasant. There is actually gate, at he entrance to the Arc, its too bad it does not work as it would be preferable to keep that all our. But the next night, Sunday, was quiet as can be. So, if you stay over on a Saturday, bring earplugs.

But don't let that deter you. I would go again in a heartbeat -- indeed, we left a few restaurant guide-books there as we want to return.....

My husband, I and our 13 year old daughter LOVED our stay in flat 29. This area of Rome is THE area you want to be in - walking distance to the heart of one of the most historical areas. We walked to Trastevere a few nights as well - an easy and interesting walk. Took in nightlife along the river. The Arco degli Acetari courtyard is charming, the Piazza the best. Campo Dei Fiori is a wonderful market by morning, interesting dinner Piazza by evening and the hot area for youth and fun at night. We loved being so close to Piazza Novona and Farnese. The flat itself is so unuique - 3 levels and quite usable. We stayed on the first floor in the double bed; the kitchen/living room second floor was most lovely, our daughter loved the 3rd floor loft hideaway. We were tickled by the fact that the courtyard and outside of flat 29 is featured on at least 4 different post cards and painted by artists around the city. We found paintings of this flat even in the Spanish Steps area. We stayed 4 nights in flate 29, traveled out of the city, then came back to Rome staying our last night in Hotel Hassler - which while high-end nice just wasn't as great as being in flat 29 and the Campo Dei Fiori area. We found ourselves right back there for the evening.

We love being able to stay in one of the most gorgeous homes in Rome. Walking into the 14th Century courtyard and being greeted by the cats is very welcoming. The home is perfect for a couple and well renovated. We enjoy returning each year to this place.

We loved the location of this apartment. As others have said, it was within walking distance of all the big sites (although Borghese Museum might be a stretch especially if you’ve done alot of walking – so take Bus 116 which is on a side street right near the apt). The apartment itself was also really nice, spacious and supplied with everything you could need to cook or store food & drinks. We would suggest making sure you get detailed directions of how to get to the apartment (especially if you use public transport when you arrive in Rome). It is in a courtyard off of a side street so it's not easily found unless you're familiar with the area. We took bus 64 to/from the Termini (you can also take the 40 express and walk - not that far). Other tips - bring your own alarm clock and pick up some souvenir postcards/magnets of pictures of the apartment in nearby shops. Thank you Roman Reference – you were great to work with!

We absolutely loved this place. It was roomy and well equipped. Far better than staying in any hotel room. I also cannot imagine a better location in all of Rome. We walked to everything from the Vatican to the Colosseum to the Spanish Steps. We will be back.

Number 105 is a great apartment. We stayed for a week and were very sad to leave both Rome and the apartment. The location, very close to the Campo and walking distance from Trastevere, Piazza Navona and The Vatican, was perfect. The bedroom and bath on the entry level (outside walk-up to third floor U.S.) are very comfortable, if a bit dark. The next floor up is a large livingroom with a very well equipped kitchen. There are supermarkets and food shops close-by, with vegetables available in the Campo, so we ate in often. The livingroom has doors out on to very narrow balconies and it was pleasant to open these in the late afternoon. The third level is a long sleeping loft, with enough privacy for a third person. The feel of the apartment is excellent. The Arco is quiet but you are steps from the vibrancy of the Campo di Fiore. During our stay we missed a satellite TV and I did see more Italian soccer than necessary, but following U.S. news is not the idea for a trip to Rome!

Thank you for all of your help in renting the apartment at Arco degli Acetari. The apartment was wonderful, the area was fantastic and there were no problems at all during our stay. It was very nice and convenient to have the car pick us up at the airport also. The discount you gave us was generous and very much appreciated. We loved the area and will be back.

Anyone we talk to that is going to Rome will hear about Roman Reference.

This was a real winner. A great apartment, a great location and a great company to deal with. It was nice to have the privacy and space of an apartment over a hotel room and the washing machine was very convienient to have. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was a good size and clean, the kitchen had everything that we needed. Campo dei Fiori was less than a minute away and had wonderful cafes & restaurants. We walked everywhere from this apartment. Guglielmo and Raffaella took care of everything and answered all of our question. We will be back!

My family and I just wanted to thank you for the great apartment. It was everything we wanted: location; comfort; and charm. And we were amused whenever we stopped at a postcard vendor and found pictures of the place we were staying.

We also want to thank you for the services you rendered. You were there to answer questions and take care of those small problems that arose.

Our thanks once again. You helped make this a wonderful trip.

Location is superb! We were surprised at how well equipped #105 was!The neighbourhod has everything necessary!A good bed, very important!!Although it did not bother us, any prospect should be aware of construction work in the building. #105 is definitely ok for North Americans because of the level of and type of the equipment. NOTE FROM THE MANAGEMENT: this feedback was posted in January 2007, works have long finished since.
